Governance

Governance is how we structure the web program and the processes for decision-making and accountability.

It’s also one of the ways we make sure the web program is transparent, and open, and allows a diverse collaborative group of voices to be heard. The web program does not seek to control the content of individual websites, but rather provides everyone with best practices on how website owners can create a highly findable, usable, and inspirational website.

Web Liaisons

Website Liaisons are a group of marketers, communicators, and other web-focused leadership partners across UCSC who have a stake in the digital presence of their organization.

The liaison is the local point of contact to help coordinate digital objectives within an organization. The liaison does not need to be an expert in all aspects of owning a website (accessibility, security, content strategy, maintenance, etc..) but rather be able to refer questions to the right place when necessary.

In a two-way communication function with the Web Program Leadership Team, these partners can help address questions, needs, and wants from their organization stakeholders, and equally share website-related information back to their organization when changes can be expected.

Governance goals

  1. Form a Web Program Leadership Team
    • Connect campus vision and goals for the web presence, tools, services, information architecture, and standards.
    • Provide a bridge/balance between end-users and leadership.
    • Guide the delivery of web services, and identifies changes, gaps, and requirements.
  2. Nurture our Strategic Partners
    • Strategic Partners come from across the university. They are website managers, content contributors, and people who want to make sure our web program represents UCSC’s values.
    • The program’s intention is to be an informational, knowledge-sharing, two-way communication channel that can also acknowledge and listen to our strategic partner’s needs and concerns.
