Google Analytics messaged users on April 2, 2024 noting that Universal Analytics will cease to function on July 1, 2024. There is no action you’ll need to take if you currently use the centralized Google Analytics account set up for UC Santa Cruz websites.

Information Technology Services has already transitioned all websites under the centralized Google Analytics account from the old Universal Analytics to the new Google Analytics 4. Additionally, all new websites that are created in the UCSC WordPress service will be included in the new Google Analytics 4 account.

What is Universal Analytics?

Universal Analytics was the main product that Google offered for website analytics. In 2023, Google updated to a new analytics product: Google Analytics 4, and then began communicating about the sunset of Universal Analytics.
